Neurotoxins are a highly sought-after treatment option for many aging men and women. Patients can see a significant improvement in bothersome lines and wrinkles with a simple in-office procedure. At Longwood Plastic Surgery, we offer both Botox® and Xeomin to ensure an optimal outcome for based on your specific aging pattern.

Botox® and Xeomin are similar in a lot of ways. They’re both FDA-approved to temporarily address unwanted wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions. The injectables both work by relaxing the targeted muscles for a naturally younger-looking appearance. That’s about where the similarities end though.

What are the Differences?

Now that we know what some of the similarities of the two products are, we’ll take a look at what the differences are. Remember, it is important to choose an experienced injector when seeking out wrinkle reduction with neurotoxins. They’ll be able to help determine which option is best for you and provide you with natural-looking results for your facial anatomy.

The Formulation

Both Botox® and Xeomin contain botulinum toxin A. Although the primary ingredient found within Botox® is botulinum toxin, it’s not the only ingredient. Xeomin, on the other hand, is considered a pure-form because there are no additives. There is less chance for a person to buildup a resistance when using Xeomin. In fact, many men and women switch to the single-ingredient neurotoxin after years of using Botox®.

Botox & Xeomin Consultations Available

Neurotoxins are ideally used for fine lines and wrinkles that are caused by repetitive facial expressions like smiling, laughing, or frowning. Botox® is FDA-approved for various aesthetic and functional concerns. From forehead lines to crow’s feet to unwanted neckbands, Botox® can help.

The only cosmetic application Xeomin is FDA-approved for is moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. However, the neurotoxin has shown promising results in a variety of “off-label” uses.

Which is Right for Me?

There is no right or wrong answer for every patient. Both Botox® and Xeomin have a vast array of applications. Each has its own benefits and can produce exceptional, natural-looking results when administered correctly. The best way to find out which product is right for your needs is to schedule an in-person consultation. An experienced injector will be able to assess your concerns and recommend the best treatment to achieve your short and long-term goals.
