Fat Injections Boston
Looking For A Natural, Long-Lasting Treatment for Facial or Body Imperfections?
Fat Injections – The Natural Soft Tissue Filler
If you’ve considered injection treatments for minor imperfections on your face or body but want a more natural way of doing it, fat injections at Longwood Plastic Surgery may be for you. Ideal for both facial reconstruction and adding volume to shallow contours, fat injection is a process in which your provider takes fat from an area of your body and relocates it to a different area. Results are safe, natural, and longer-lasting than other dermal injection treatments.
How Do Fat Injections Work?
The idea behind fat injections is to add existing fat that your body has produced to areas that may need a little help. Because your body has already produced it, side effects are slim to none. To start, your provider will take existing fat from areas with more volume, usually the outer thighs, buttocks, or abdomen, via liposuction. The material that has been suctioned from your donor site is then conditioned for the injection by your specialist. Fat is then applied to the desired area through a specialized injection process. The procedure is a little more complicated than artificial fillers, but most fillers wear off within a few years. With fat injections, the transferred material is kept alive by blood flow and not the longevity of a chemical filler. Once the desired aesthetic is achieved, your body will be able to maintain the applied volume safely and for significantly longer than “off-the-shelf” treatments.

Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Injections?
If you are in good health and wish to add volume to areas of the face or other areas of the body, a fat injection could be right for you. Ideally, you should have significant fat within the donor site for this 2-in-1 procedure. Typical patients undergo a fat injection for several reasons:
- Facial Reconstruction After an Injury or Disfigurement
- Age-Related Facial Volume Loss
- Enhancing Volume or Contours in Sunken Areas
- Scar and Wrinkle Reduction
- Breast Augmentation or Reconstruction
If any of these reasons match your aesthetic goals, fat injections could be your ideal solution. Longwood Plastic Surgery’s team of board-certified, experienced specialists can help you decide on treatment options– we want to help you look your best.
How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?
Patients can expect extractions from donor areas to be straightforward and quick. Injections themselves take very little time, but depending on your aesthetic goals and the intensity of the treatment, the injection process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. For an estimated treatment time tailored to your goals, consult your service provider.
What Results Will I See?*
While tailored to patients’ goals, patients that undergo the procedure can expect to see volume enhancement in the desired facial areas. Added facial contours contribute to the patient looking younger, or just more sculpted. Patients with facial reconstruction in mind can expect rejuvenation of the affected skin and reversal of the previous scarification.
Is There Any Downtime?
Patients should expect to take 7-10 days off of work and social obligations for recovery time. Healing can take a few weeks, but patients can expect initial swelling to go down well before then. Strenuous activities should be avoided during this time. The desired effects are achieved at around 6 months after the procedure when the graft is fully integrated into the facial area.
