Are Expression Lines Getting You Down?

Neurtoxins – Non-Invasive Wrinkle Reduction Treatments

Chances are you’ve heard of Botox®, Xeomin or Jeuveau but maybe you don’t know what it is or what it does. They are all considered neurotoxin treatments and are designed to combat wrinkles that are caused by repeated facial expressions, giving you a more youthful appearance. You may be a candidate for neurotoxin treatment if you have lines and wrinkles that bother you but it can also be done as a preventative measure. This minimally-invasive treatment is administered through facial injections and delivers results within 2 days to 2 weeks.*

How Does Neurotoxins Work?

Botox®, Xeomin and Jeuveau are neurotoxins that block nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Wrinkles caused by repeated and typical facial movements can typically benefit from the procedure.

Typical target areas include:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead Lines
  • Furrows Between The Brows

Additional areas include:

  • Upper lip to increase volume
  • Smokers lines
  • Neck banding

Injections are minimally-invasive and require no downtime.

Am I a Good Candidate for an Injectable Neurotoxin?

If you are wary of more invasive surgical procedures (or just aren’t ready for them), Botox, Xeomin or Jeuveau could be right for you. If you’ve just got a few pesky areas of concern or you are interested in preventing lines and wrinkles, neurotoxin treatments might be right for you. Our providers at Longwood Plastic Surgery can discuss which product might be best for you.

How Long Does A Typical Treatment Take?

Once the areas are cleaned and prepared, Botox® is one of the quicker treatments on the market. Actual injections will take only a few minutes. Botox® allows for very precise treatments and are placed at just the right skin depth to stop nerve-muscle communication. Ultra-fine needles allow for little to no pain, but patients with more sensitive skin can opt for a topical numbing agent. Patients can be in and out of the office in as little as 15 minutes!

What Results Will I See?*

Within a few days, you can expect to see wrinkles relaxed around the targeted areas. Patients should see more youthful contours by 2 weeks after treatment and sometimes before. Results last upwards of 4-6 months and wear off gradually. To maintain desired results, touch-up treatments are available as needed.

Is There Any Downtime?

No downtime is required after neurotoxin treatments, which makes it ideal for those with a fast-paced lifestyle. In fact, many patients get the procedure done on their lunch break or while out and about. After the procedure, patients should not lie down or massage the targeted areas for 4 hours.  Side effects are minimal and temporary. Patients can have bruising or swelling at injection sites. In rare cases, patients can experience migration or drift of the product.
