Chemical Peel

Have your beauty products begun to let you down?

Environmental toxins and accumulated damaged or dull skin cells can really take the youth out of your complexion. A chemical peel at Longwood Plastic Surgery may be just the breath of fresh air your skin needs to renew, refresh, and rehydrate for a youthful, radiant glow.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

Chemical peels have come a long way since the harsh formulas of peels past. Modern peels have a variety of blended and concentrated solutions of TCA (trichloroacetic acid), salicylic acid, and glycolic acid. Formulated for a range of skin types and concerns, chemical peels exfoliate the top layer of your skin to remove damaged cells and debris that contribute to a dull, dry, and haggard appearance. Safe for even sensitive patients, chemical peels improve acne, hyperpigmentation, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots, and clearing up acne and other blemishes. Regular chemical peel treatments can even out skin’s tone and texture, further improve lines and wrinkles, and restore youthful radiance to your skin.

PCA SKIN is the first company to develop and enhance Jessner’s peel, which combines lactic, salicylic, kojic, and citric acids with resorcinol for safer, more comfortable treatment for even sensitive skin with increased beneficial results.

Longwood Plastic Surgery performs 3 PCA SKIN peels in our chemical peel catalog. You can expect to pay $150 for a PCA peel at Longwood Plastic Surgery, packages are available upon request.

Sensi Peel® is a blend of 12% lactic acid, 6% TCA, azelaic and kojic acids, arbutin, marshmallow root extract, linseed oil, and sweet almond oil for targeted enhancement to sensitive and ethnic skin types. It’s gentle enough for all sensitivity levels, producing only mild tingling. It’s ideal for brightening the skin while reversing sun damage, calming rosacea, and thoroughly cleansing for blemishes.

VI Peel is a blend of synergistic peeling agents that are suitable for all skin types and tones. The peel is subdermal, meaning it addresses more than just the superficial top layer of your skin, leaving you with fresh, youthful, baby-like skin. The different formulated VI Peel treatments are designed to address fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, texture, and clarity, lift pigment such as sun damage or melasma, and alleviate acne and scarring. The VI Peel can provide a dramatic improvement without the discomfort, prep or downtime of other chemical peels and in as little as 7 days!

Ultra Peel® blends 20% lactic acid with 10% TCA for dehydrated and mature skin, though it’s safe for other skin types and conditions. This formulation works wonders on smoker’s skin, pigment issues, sun damage, and acne. It’s moderate to aggressive exfoliation depends on how many layers are applied. Contains azelaic and kojic acids, arbutin, Vitamin C, chaste tree berry extract, linseed oil, and sweet almond oils for ultra-soft, hydrated skin.

PCA Peel with HQ® is an enhanced Jessner formula with 14% each of lactic and salicylic acids, which inhibit pigment production. It also includes kojic acid, Vitamin C, hydroquinone, and resorcinol to help repair, diminish, and prevent acne, control soil, smooth skin texture, and fine lines, and brighten tone.

In addition, we offer two depths of TCA chemical peels, 20%, and 35%, for a more in-depth treatment. The 20% solution TCA peel is performed in the comfort of our offices, while the 35% TCA solution is performed in our accredited outpatient surgery suite under general anesthesia. While these are still classified as superficial peels, they give a deeper improvement option for patients with significant acne scarring, deeper wrinkles, or more other serious skin concerns. Please ask the staff regarding pricing for these deeper peels.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Most patients seeking improvement to fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation concerns, acne, scarring, or skin tone and texture are candidates for chemical peels. Longwood Plastic Surgery providers can help you determine which peel best suits your goals and skin condition.

What is Chemical Peel Treatment Like?

Your chemical peel is performed in the comfort and privacy of the Longwood Plastic Surgery offices. Your skin is numbed and the peel you’ve chosen is applied. After the prescribed amount of time, the acid is neutralized and we apply products to help your skin heal. The duration of your treatment will depend on which kind of chemical peel you’ve chosen.

What Results Will I See?*

LPS patients often report improvement to their skin 2-3 weeks with continued improvement for 3-6 months as renewed skin cells continue to rejuvenate. Redness and uneven tones visibly clear, textures, scars, and wrinkles smooth away, and skin’s hydration and volume improves for a clearer, vibrant complexion.

Is There Any Downtime?

Careful aftercare does impact the results. Your skin will be red and flushed and may be dry and tight. Some pigmentation temporarily darkens before it begins to flake or peel away, and you may experience some tenderness, swelling, and significant sensitivity for up to 10 days. The PCA SKIN® Post-Procedure Solution Kit should alleviate some of this. It’s critical to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen anytime you’re outdoors.
