A liquid facelift is a unique alternative to a more traditional surgical procedure. It could be the ideal solution for men and women with mild to moderate signs of aging such as wrinkles or sagging skin. The procedure provides near-instant results with a simple in-office visit and does not require any downtime.

The longevity of this minimally-invasive procedure can vary significantly from patient to patient. At Longwood Plastic Surgery, we create custom treatment plans based on your specific goals as well as your unique aging pattern. Your individual procedure may last anywhere from 3-months to 1-year or more.

What’s A Liquid Facelift Procedure Like?

A liquid facelift procedure is done in-office. After your consultation with one of our skilled specialists, we’ll begin preparing you for the injection procedures. This includes cleaning the treatment area and marking injection sites. You may also request an ice application to numb the site, however, most injectables are lidocaine-enhanced to keep you comfortable throughout.

The actual injection process takes just a few short minutes. There is no downtime involved, and you’ll be able to get back to most of your day-to-day activities without restrictions. Aside from minor redness, swelling, or tenderness, side effects are typically minimal and often last just a few hours.

Which Fillers are Used?

There is no right or wrong combination for a liquid facelift. Your individual procedure may entail a combination of dermal fillers and/or neurotoxin injectables for total facial rejuvenation. The most commonly used injections include:

  • Botox – For lines and wrinkles on the upper portion of the face including crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and glabellar wrinkles.
  • Juvederm – Best for lines, wrinkles, and facial folds on the mid-to-lower face. Juvederm can also help plump thin lips.
  • Juvederm Voluma– This unique injectable is ideal for treating upper to mid-facial volume loss, primarily in the cheek area. This filler can last up to 2 years.
  • Sculptra – A long-lasting collagen enhancer that’s able to tackle even the most severe lines, wrinkles, and facial folds.

The great thing about a liquid facelift is the ability to address symptoms head-on while also naturally slowing the aging process. In fact, many younger patients opt for liquid facelift procedures to combat hereditary premature aging such as laugh lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

When Will I See Results from a Liquid Facelift?

The results of your liquid facelift will vary based on the injectables chosen as well as your body’s natural response to them. In most cases, dermal fillers like Juvederm can produce immediate results. Injectables that are neurotoxin-based typically provide initial results within 2-5 days. Following a liquid facelift, bruising is common, normal, and to be expected. Results from a liquid facelift typically peak in about 2-weeks allowing for gradual, discrete improvement.

When Will I Need Maintenance Treatments?

While a liquid facelift doesn’t necessarily need to be repeated, many patients are so happy with the results that they continue to get treatment. A liquid facelift can have varying longevity for everyone. However, you can generally expect to get maintenance treatments on a semi-annual basis. Your Longwood Plastic Surgery Provider will help customize a plan that will

“My experience was positive and reassuring ! The staff were courteous. The physician that I consulted with was sensitive to my needs explained everything in detail was patient with me and was direct and very caring. Thank you! I felt so much better after my visit.” *
