The thin, delicate skin around the eyes often shows signs of aging before the rest of your face. Wrinkles, drooping, and puffiness can make you look tired or even sad. Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate your eyes for a brighter, more wide-awake look. Your entire face can look more youthful and energized, and your vision may even improve.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, corrects loose skin, wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness around the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure makes the eyes look more awake, alert and energized. You may have a lift on your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Your Longwood Plastic Surgery surgeon performs both types of blepharoplasty with local anesthesia and oral or IV sedation.

How Much Does Blepharoplasty Cost?

Costs for any plastic surgery differ depending on your location. Your cost will also depend on the skill and experience of your surgeon and the quality of their facility. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has found an average cost of $4,120. This number does not include expenses such as anesthesia and medication.

Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty?

Do you need an upper or lower eyelid lift? The answer depends on your primary concerns about your eye area. Are you most concerned about drooping, wrinkled skin over your eyes? Do you have more concerns about undereye puffiness or sagging under the eyes?

Upper blepharoplasty uses a small incision hidden in a crease of the upper eyelid to lift and tighten the skin. You may have so much loose skin and fat that it obscures your vision, and insurance may even cover a procedure to correct this.

Lower blepharoplasty can use an incision hidden under the crease or inside the eyelid. This procedure is somewhat more complex. Your surgeon may need to tighten the skin and muscles under the eye and remove or relocate fat to reduce puffiness.

Do I Need a Brow Lift or Eyelid Lift?

An upper blepharoplasty may make a better choice for someone with drooping, wrinkled eyelid skin. A brow lift works better if your forehead and brow area have loose, sagging skin although this is an uncommon problem

What is Recovery Like From Blepharoplasty?

Most people have some bruising and swelling for several days to a week after surgery. You can typically return to work within a week. Your surgeon may limit some activities for two weeks or more. Make sure to follow your aftercare instructions to control swelling and make sure your healing goes smoothly.

I was recommended to Dr. Morris through my doctor at BID-Needham. Due to prior surgeries, I had some issues and Dr. Morris is the best. He has done a fantastic job with my abdomen core and I feel and look fantastic.
