Bothered by the shape, symmetry, or appearance of your nose? Rhinoplasty enhances your nose and brings it into balance with the rest of your features. People choose rhinoplasty for many reasons, but all can benefit from the improved confidence the procedure can provide.

What is a Rhinoplasty?

A rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure used to change the appearance of your nose. It can adjust features such as the overall shape and size, the width of the bridge, the nose tip, and any bumps or asymmetry. Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. Your surgeon at Longwood Plastic Surgery has the skill and experience to achieve the nose you hope to see.

How is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Your LPS surgeon performs rhinoplasty by reshaping and repositioning the nasal bones and cartilage. Surgeons sometimes make incisions hidden inside the nostrils, which is called closed rhinoplasty. More often, complex or extensive procedures might require a small incision between the nostrils, also known as an open rhinoplasty. At best, incisions may be nearly invisible after healing.

How Long Does a Rhinoplasty Take to Heal?

You will be able to go home the same day as your rhinoplasty. You will usually have a cast on your nose and a splint inside your nostrils. You may feel stuffy, swollen, and uncomfortable during the first few days. The splint and cast come off after five to seven days, and you will usually feel more comfortable by this time.

Most people can return to work after one to two weeks. Most of the swelling will fade by this point, and you can cover any bruises with makeup. You should be able to resume your workout routine after four to six weeks. Residual swelling will disappear within about six to twelve months.

Do I Need a Functional or Cosmetic Rhinoplasty?

The majority of rhinoplasties are performed for cosmetic reasons, but rhinoplasty can also make functional corrections. If you can breathe normally through your nose but dislike its appearance, your rhinoplasty would be considered cosmetic. If you have an issue such as a deviated septum that keeps you from breathing well through your nose, you may have a functional rhinoplasty. Insurance may cover a functional rhinoplasty that improves breathing.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?

The two biggest factors affecting the cost of your rhinoplasty are your provider and your location. Areas with a high cost of living usually have higher prices for plastic surgery procedures. Other factors affecting the cost include the type and complexity of your procedure. The average rhinoplasty costs about $5,500. This price does not cover anesthesia, lab tests, medications, and other expenses.

I was recommended to Dr. Morris through my doctor at BID-Needham. Due to prior surgeries, I had some issues and Dr. Morris is the best. He has done a fantastic job with my abdomen core and I feel and look fantastic.
