How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

CoolSculpting® treatments are a truly revolutionary cosmetic sculpting treatment for your body that requires no surgery and zero downtime. When scientists discovered fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than surrounding tissue cells, CoolSculpting® was born. By crystallizing fat to compromise the cell membrane, causing cellular death, LPS providers can sculpt away your stubborn fat pockets. Your body filters the dead fat cells out through your metabolic system. It’s completely natural, requires no incisions or lengthy recovery, and the best part is, once the fat is gone, it’s gone for good.

When we’re through with puberty, our bodies stop adding numbers to our fat cell count. Our weight fluctuates by the size of fat cells shrinking or growing. By safely removing stubborn fat through continuous cooling, CoolSculpting® treatments reduce the total number of fat cells in the treatment area by up to 25%. Once the cells are gone, the remaining cells shift to fill in the vacancies, so you’re left with smoother, slimmer results than fat reduction through more manual procedures like liposuction. Your body won’t produce more fat, so yes, it’s really gone. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will make sure the remaining fat cells stay healthy size.

Am I a Good Candidate?

CoolSculpting® works for men and women alike, and the cooling applicator can be affixed to many areas of the body. If you’re unhappy with:

  • Double chin
  • Flabby upper arms
  • Back
  • Flanks
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs (inner, outer, or both)

Then CoolSculpting® may help. CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss solution. It’s intended to slim pockets of fat and increase your overall toned look. If you’re more than 30 pounds above your ideal weight, CoolSculpting® treatments will not give you the results you hope to achieve. But if you’re plagued by stubborn fat that hasn’t budged with exercise or healthy eating, you may be an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting®.

What is CoolSculpting® Treatment Like?

The CoolSculpting® system comes equipped with temperature safety controls, which closely monitor how much cooling your treatment area receives and will shut the system off if there’s an issue. You’ll relax in Longwood Plastic Surgery’s comfortable atmosphere while the CoolSculpting® applicator is applied to your treatment area. Most patients relax, read, check email on a device, or even nap. While there are some side effects, such as redness, tenderness, blanching, bruising, or firmness, these typically resolve on their own and your body goes to work identifying and filtering away the crystallized fat cells. You can resume your regular routine as soon as you’re comfortable doing so.

What Results Can I Expect?

It does take your body some time to complete the filtering process, so you may not see results until a few weeks after your first treatment. Many patients are pleased with the fat loss they experience, but if you’re looking to lose more than 25% fat in a specific area, you may need to complete up to 3 treatments to reach your overall goal 1-3 months after your final treatment.

Are you ready to love your reflection again? Consider CoolSculpting® treatments to improve your contours and slim away those stubborn fat pockets.
