Age-related changes affect your skin no matter how well you take care of it. While a diligent skincare routine can hold off signs of aging, it cannot prevent them altogether. A facelift can undo years of aging to give your skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.

What is a Facelift?

Your LPS surgeon will perform a facelift to correct signs of aging, such as lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. This procedure uses hidden incisions to tighten the skin and underlying layers. A facelift restores your skin and muscle to a more youthful position. Removing excess skin and/or fat can improve the appearance of the neck and jaw to improve facial contours.

Am I a Candidate for a Facelift?

Good candidates for a facelift want to address their significant signs of aging with long-term results. Good candidates have no serious health problems and understand what to expect from the procedure. Most candidates range in age from their 40s to their 70s, but only your surgeon can determine whether a facelift is right for you.

How is a Facelift Performed?

Your LPS surgeon begins the procedure with incisions hidden around the ears and within the hairline. They may remove excess fat and tighten your facial muscles before lifting and redraping the skin. This process erases lines and wrinkles, corrects sagging skin, and eliminates fat in areas like the jowls. A facelift usually takes several hours, especially if you choose to have other procedures at the same time.

How Long is Recovery From a Facelift?

You can expect some bruising, swelling, and soreness after your facelift. These will improve over the next few weeks. Most people feel ready to return to work in about five to ten days. You should wait at least two weeks before resuming an average activity level and four to six weeks before continuing your exercise routine. Taking the time to heal will ensure that your results achieve their full potential.

What Other Procedures Can I Have With a Facelift?

Almost any facial procedure can be combined with a facelift. Combining procedures means that you have only one recovery time. If your jowls and neck bother you, a neck lift can extend your facelift results.

Some people have an eyelid lift to correct sagging, wrinkles, and tired appearance around the eyes or fat injection to add volume to certain areas of the face.

What Results Will I See With a Facelift?

You can start to enjoy your results as the post-surgical swelling improves. You should look and generally feel back to normal within a few weeks. Your results will continue to develop for six months or more as swelling gradually resolves. Most people are happy with their facelift results for at least five to ten years and sometimes many more.

I was recommended to Dr. Morris through my doctor at BID-Needham. Due to prior surgeries, I had some issues and Dr. Morris is the best. He has done a fantastic job with my abdomen core and I feel and look fantastic.
